Tourmaline red and pink - Rubellite
In the realm of gemstones, there exists a mesmerizing duo known as Red and Pink Tourmaline, affectionately called Rubellite.
Rubellite comes in a wide variety of shades of red – from a light pink to a very dark red. Occasionally, rubellite has a purplish tinge. The more its color resembles a precious ruby, the more valuable the rubellite gemstone is. A red tourmaline is only called rubellite if it shows the same fine ruby red in artificial light as in daylight.

These exquisite gems hold within them a tapestry of meanings, occurrences, and effects that weave a tale of passion, healing, and spiritual awakening.

Occurence:

Tourmalines, including Rubellites, are found in various locations around the world, including Brazil, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Madagascar and the United States. The color intensity and quality of Tourmaline can vary depending on the location of the mine.

Meaning of:

The name Rubellite comes from the Latin rubellus, meaning “reddish,” and refers to the similarity of its color to that of the Ruby, though most Rubellites are more pink than red. They vary in hue from pale to shocking pink to a bold ruby-red, sometimes with a violet tint. While some in the gem world consider “Rubellite” to be merely a trade name for all deep pink/red Tourmalines, the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICGA) defines the criterion for Rubellites by the way they behave in daylight and artificial light. While many gemstones change color depending on the light source, a true Rubellite shines just as intensely in artificial light as it does in daylight, while other pink or red Tourmalines display a visible tinge of brown in artificial light. [www.gemstone.org][www.gemselect.com]
